What is the meaning of the angels prostrating to Adam and Yoosuf’s brothers prostrating to him?
Quelle signification faut-il donner à la prosternation des anges devant Adam et celle des frères de Joseph devant celui-ci ?
السؤال :
لماذا أمر الله الملائكة أن تسجد لآدم ؟ ولماذا سجد إخوة يوسف ليوسف ؟ أعرف أن السجود يجب أن يكون لله.
الجواب :
الحمد لله
السجود يكون على وجهين :
يكون تعظيماً وتقرباً إلى من سُجِدَ لهُ ، وهذا سُجود عبادة ولا يكون إِلاَّّ لله وحده في جميع الشرائع .
النوع الثاني من السجود ، سُجود تحيَّة وتكريم
وهذا هو السُّجود الذي أَمَر الله الملائكة به لآدم فسجدوا له تكريماً ، وهو منهم عبادة لله سبحانه بطاعتهم له إذْ أمرهم بالسجود .
وأمّا سجود أَبَويْ يُوسُف وإخوته له فكذلك هو من سجود التحية والتكريم ، وقد كان جائزاً في شريعتهم ،
وأمّا في الشريعة التي جاء بها خاتم النبيين محمدٌ صلى الله عليه وسلّم فلا يجوز السجود فيها لغير الله مطلقاً ،
ولهذا قال عليه الصلاة والسلام " لو كنت آمراً أحداً أن يسجد لأحد ، لأمرت المرأة أن تسجد لزوجها " 1.
ونهى النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام معاذاً عن السجود له لمّا ذكر أن أهل الكتاب يسجدون لعظمائهم ، وذكر الحديث المتقدم ، وتحريم السجود لغير الله مطلقاً في هذه الشريعة هو من كمالها في تحقيق التوحيد وهي الشريعة الكاملة في كُلِّ ما اشتملت عليه من الأحكام ، قال تعالى : ( الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلامَ دِينًا فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِي مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لإِثْمٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ ) .المائدة 3

Why did Allah tell the angels to bow to Adam? I thought boing was only allowed for Allah alone. The same goes for Prophet Yusuf, why did his brothers bow to him?
Praise be to Allaah.
Prostrating is of two kinds:
It may an act of veneration and drawing closer to the one to whom one prostrates. This kind of prostration is worship, and should only be done for Allaah, according to the laws of the Prophets.
The second type is a kind of greeting and honouring a person. This is the kind of prostration which Allaah commanded the angels to do in the case of Adam, so they prostrated to him as an act of honouring him. It was an act of worship towards Allaah on their part, because they were obeying His command to prostrate to Adam.
The prostration of Yoosuf’s parents and brothers was also a prostration of greeting and honouring, which was permissible according to the law (of Allaah) at that time. But according to the sharee’ah brought by the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), it is not permissible to prostrate to anyone at all except Allaah. Hence the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If I were to have commanded anyone to prostrate to anyone else, I would have commanded women to prostrate to their husbands.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade Mu’aadh to prostrate to him when he (Mu’aadh) said that the People of the Book prostrated to the great ones among them, and he mentioned the hadeeth quoted above. The prohibition in this sharee’ah against prostrating to anyone at all except Allaah is an aspect of its perfection in achieving true Tawheed. It is the perfect sharee’ah whose perfection is manifested in all its rulings. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion” [al-Maa’idah 5:3]

Pourquoi Allah a -t- Il donné aux anges l’ordre de se prosterner devant Adam? Pourquoi les frères de Joseph se sont-ils prosternés devant lui ? Je sais que la prosternation ne doit être faite que devant Allah ?
Louange à Allah
L’on se prosterne soit par vénération et pour se rapprocher de celui pour qui on se prosterne – c’est ce qu’on appelle la prosternation cultuelle réservée à Dieu dans toutes les religions–, soit pour saluer et honorer. C’est le sens de la prosternation qu’Allah a demandée aux anges en l’honneur d’Adam. Ils se sont prosternés en signe de salutation. C’est un acte d’adoration vis-à-vis d’Allah le Transcendant puisque c’est Lui qui leur avait donné l’ordre de se prosterner.
S’agissant de la prosternation des frères de Joseph devant ce dernier, c’est un geste fait pour le saluer et l’honorer. C’était autorisé par leur loi religieuse. Quant à la loi apportée par le sceau des prophètes, Muhammad (bénédiction et salut soient sur lui), elle n’autorise absolument pas la prosternation devant un autre qu’Allah. C’est pourquoi le Prophète (bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) dit : « S’il me revenait de donner à une personne l’ordre de se prosterner devant une autre, je demanderais à la femme de se prosterner devant son mari. » Le Prophète (bénédiction et salut soient sur lui) a également interdit à Mu’adh de se prosterner devant lui quand Muadh a évoqué que les gens du Livre se prosternaient devant leurs grands hommes. C’est dans ce contexte qu’il prononça le hadith qui vient d’être cité.
L’interdiction absolue par la loi musulmane de se prosterner devant un autre qu’Allah fait partie [des indices] de la perfection de sa conception de l’unicité divine. C’est en fait la loi parfaite dans toutes ses dispositions. Le Très Haut dit : « Aujourd'hui, J' ai parachevé pour vous votre religion. » (Coran, 5 : 3).
