The importance of supererogatory (Nafl) prayers in the life of a Muslim

A Series for Defending the Sunnah
The importance of supererogatory (Nafl) prayers in the life of a Muslim
Praise be to Allah, and we seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves and from the evils of our deeds, Whoever Allah guides, none will mislead him, and whoever misleads, none will guide him. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone no partner for him. And I bear witness that Mohammad is His servant and Messenger, may Allah bless him and his family and grant them peace.

O you who have believed, fear Allāh as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims
O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwâ (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allâh through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allâh is Ever an All-Watcher over you
O you who have believed, fear Allāh and speak words of appropriate justice, will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allāh and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment

The most truthful book is the book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Mohammad peace be upon him and his family, and the evil thing is the innovation, every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance in the fire
Then afterwards
Allah Almighty created the universe in order to unify and glorify Him.

"And there is not a thing that does not glorify Him, but you do not understand their glorification."
Allah assigned Mankind and Jinn to worship him.

"I did not create the jinn and mankind except that they should worship"
Knowing Allah with His Names and Attributes, approving His Lordship, turning to Him with sincere worship, and attaching the heart to Him, is Allah’s right over His servants.
The most important element of faith is the love of Allah. If true love for Allah and His Messenger is realized, obedience to Allah and His Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - results from it.
Whoever possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith
The one to whom Allah and His Prophet become dearer than anything else
Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake
Who hates to revert to disbelief (Atheism) after Allah has brought (saved) him out from it, as he hates to be thrown in fire
"Al Bukhari.
Faith has a sweetness that delights the heart, and this is represented in its bliss and pleasure, by the love and obedience of Allah.
The reasons that lead to the love of Allah Almighty are many, including: giving preference to what Allah loves over what people love, perpetual remembrance, reading the Quraan, and coming close to Allah Almighty through supererogatory deeds after the obligatory prayers. Loving the righteous and sitting with them, enumerating the names and attributes of Allah, seeking forgiveness and repentance, abandoning sins and avoiding sins, thanking Allah for His blessings and being patient with trials.
Let us initiate good deeds, whether they are obligatory or supererogatory.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Rush to do good deeds. A Fitnah will occur that is like a portion of the dark night, morning will come upon a man as a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the evening, and evening will come upon a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the morning. One of them will sell his religion for goods of the world Moslem
Righteous deeds are divided into: obligatory, and supererogatory (Nafl). The obligatory is divided into: an obligatory act, and leaving a prohibited act
Doing the obligatory: the one who does it is rewarded and the one who doesn't do it is punished
Leaving prohibited act: The one who abandoned it will be rewarded and the one who does it will be punished
As for the Nafl: it is called mustahabb, recommended and voluntary. The modern jurists use the word “sunnah” for it
It is He who rewards the one who does it, and does not punish the one who abandons it in laziness and not in denial. But he may be inflicted with harm as a penalty and not as a punishment for his abandonment. Such as not being immunized with azkaar, this may harm him because he did not immunize himself. So we have to calculate how much we will lose by neglecting it; Whether this loss is the loss of benefits or damages as a penalty and not a as a punishment
Let us follow the Sunnah, and let us follow the righteous predecessors

Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet, peace be upon him, said:
" I shall certainly give this flag to the hand of the one who loves Allah and his Messenger and Allah will grant victory at his hand. Umar b. Khattab said: Never did I cherish for leadership but on that day. I came before him with the hope that I may be called for this, but Allah's Messenger called 'Ali b. Abu Talib and he conferred (this honour) upon him and said: Proceed on and do not look about until Allah grants you victory, and 'Ali went a bit and then halted and did not look about and then said in a loud voice: Allah's Messenger, on what issue should I fight with the people? Thereupon he (the Prophet) said: Fight with them until they bear testimony to the fact that there is no god but Allah and Mohammad is his Messenger, and when they do that then their blood and their riches are inviolable from your hands but what is justified by law and their reckoning is with Allah". Moslem.

Baraa Ibn Azib narrated that the prophet said: "Whenever you go to bed, perform Wudu' as you do for Salat then (before sleeping) recite: 'O Allah! I have submitted myself to You, I have turned myself to You, committed my affairs to You and sought Your refuge for protection out of desire for You and fear of You (expecting Your reward and fearing Your punishment). There is no refuge and no place of safety from You but with You. I believe in the Book You have revealed and in the Prophet You have sent." The Prophet added: "If anyone recites these words and dies during the night, he will die on the true Deen, and if he remains alive till the morning, he will obtain good. And make this supplication your last words (before sleeping)." Al Bukhari

Let us follow the Companions and their interest in the Sunnah

Abu Huraira said that the prophet used to observe a period of silence between the takbir and the recitation of the Qur an, so he addressed him thus, “O prophet, for whom I would give my father and mother as ransom, what do you say during your period of silence between the takbir and the recitation?” He replied that he said, “O God, remove my sins far from me as Thou hast removed the East far from the West. O God, purify me from sins as a white garment is purified from filth. O God, wash away my sins with water, snow and hail Al Bukhari

Abi Hurairah narrated that
Some of the poor Emigrants came to the Prophet and said to him, "The wealthy have obtained all high ranks and everlasting bliss." He asked, "How is that?" They replied: "They offer Salaah as we do, and observe Saum (fasting) as we do, but they give in Sadaqah (charity) and we do not, and they emancipate slaves and we cannot."The prophet said, "Shall I not teach you something whereby you will catch up with those who have preceded you and will get ahead of those who follow you, and no one will surpass you unless he does the same as you do?" They said, "Surely, O prophet" He said, "Say: Subhan Allah, and Allahu Akbar, and praise Him (by saying Al-hamdu lillah) thirty-three times at the end of every Salaah." Sahih Moslem.

Ibn al-Qayyim - may Allah have mercy on him - said:
If love is the root of every action of right and wrong, The origin of religious actions is the love of Allah and His Messenger, just as the origin of religious sayings is the belief in God and His Messenger.
Love is divided into three successive ranks
The love of Allah; is called the love of worship
The love of the Prophet, peace be upon him, is called the love of following
The love of the believers is called the love of brotherhood or the love of loyalty
These ranks are consecutive, so the succession in them is important, for the love of Allah comes before the love of the Prophet and before the love of the believers. Indeed, if the love of Allah is not found in the heart of the servant first, then it is not possible to love the prophet, peace be upon him, nor to love the believers.
Likewise, it is not possible for there to be someone who loves the believers while he hates the prophet..
"Say, [O Muḥammad], "If you should love Allāh, then follow me, [so] Allāh will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful"
So the verse made it clear that love has evidence and fruit. If the evidence is verified, the fruit will be achieved, and the evidence is following the Prophet, peace be upon him, in obligatory and supererogatory actions, the fruit is Allah’s love and forgiveness. Then the Almighty warned those who disobey the prophet:

"So let those beware who dissent from his order, lest fitna strike them or a painful punishment".

"None of you is a believer until I am dearer to him than his child, his father, and the whole of mankind." Sahih Moslem.

Examples of inanimate objects and humans that love the Prophet, peace be upon him, some inanimate objects and plants may be better than some humans:
Jabir Ibn Abdullah narrated that An Ansari woman told the Prophet "O Allah's Messenger! Shall I make something for you to sit on. He replied, "If you wish." So, she got a pulpit made for him. When it was Friday the Prophet sat on that pulpit. The date-palm stem near which the Prophet used to deliver his sermons cried so much so that it was about to burst. The Prophet came down from the pulpit to the stem and embraced it and it started groaning like a child being persuaded to stop crying and then it stopped crying. The Prophet said,"It has cried because of (missing) what it use to hear of the religions knowledge Al Bukhari

Abi Sofian and Anas narrated that Jibril
One day, came to the Prophet when he was sitting in a sorrowful state with his face soaked with blood, because some of the people of Mecca had struck him. He said: ‘What is the matter with you?’ He said: ‘These people did such and such to me.’ He said: ‘Would you like me to show you a sign?’ He said: ‘Yes, show me.’ He looked at a tree on the far side of the valley and said: ‘Call that tree.’ So he called it, and it came walking until it stood before him. He said: ‘Tell it to go back.’ So he told it, and it went back to its place. The prophet Allah said: That is sufficient for me Sahih Ibn Majah

Jabir Ibn Samra narrated that the prophet said: "I know a stone in Mecca that used to greet me before my advent as a prophet and I know it now." Sahih Moslem.

Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet said: 'The wealth of none of you has benefited me as much as the wealth of Abu Bakr.'" Abu Bakr wept and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I and my wealth are only for you, O Messenger of Allah.'"
Sahih Ibn Majah.

Abi Hurairah said “ The prophet sent some horsemen to Najd and they brought a man of the Banu Hanifah called Thumamah bint Uthal who was the chief of the people of Al Yamamah and bound him to one of the pillars of the mosque. The prophet came out to him and said “What are you expecting, Thumamah?”. He replied “I expect good, Muhammad. If you kill (me), you will kill one whose blood will be avenged, if you show favor, you will show it to one who is grateful and if you want property and ask you will be given as much of it as you wish. The prophet left him till the following day and asked him ”What are you expecting, Thumamah?” He repeated the same words (in reply). The prophet left him till the day after the following one and he mentioned the same words. The prophet then said “Set Thumamah free.” He went off to some palm trees near the mosque. He took a bath there and entered the mosque and said “I testify that there is no god but Allaah and I testify that Muhammd is His servant and His Messenger. By Allah, there was no face on earth that was more hated to me than yours, for yours has become more beloved to all faces to me. By Allah, no religion was more hated to me than your religion, so your religion has become the most beloved of all religions to me. By Allah, no country was more hated to me than your country, so your country has become more beloved to me than the entire countries. Your horses took me while I wanted to perform Umrah, so what do you see? So the Prophet gave him good tidings and ordered him to perform Umrah. When he came to Mecca, someone said to him: You became disbeliever. He said: No, but I embraced Islam with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. By Allah A grain of wheat will not come to you from al-Yamamah until the Prophet, permits it. Sahih Moslem

Abdul Rahman Ibn Awf said:
"While I was standing in the row on the day (of the battle) of Badr, I looked to my right and my left and saw two young Ansari boys, and I wished I had been stronger than they. One of them called my attention saying, "O Uncle! Do you know Abu Jahl?" I said, "Yes, What do you want from him, O my nephew?" He said, "I have been informed that he abuses the prophet. By Him in Whose Hands my life is, if I should see him, then my body will not leave his body till either of us meet his fate." I was astonished at that talk. Then the other boy called my attention saying the same as the other had said. After a while I saw Abu Jahl walking amongst the people. I said (to the boys), "Look! This is the man you asked me about." So, both of them attacked him with their swords and struck him to death and returned to the Prophet to inform him of that. The prophet asked, "Which of you has killed him?" Each of them said, "I Have killed him." The Prophet asked, "Have you cleaned your swords?" They said, "No. " He then looked at their swords and said, "No doubt, you both have killed him and the spoils of the deceased will be given to Mu`adh bin `Amr bin Al-Jamuh." The two boys were Mu`adh bin 'Afra and Mu`adh bin `Amr bin Al-Jamuh. Sahih Al Bukhari.

The consequence of turning away from Sunnah
Performing Sunnah has fadl; virtue
Turning away from Sunnah has penalty
The virtue of doing the recommended (likable) Sunnah

1

The one who does it obtains good deeds (hasanat) for doing the Sunnah as a general act of worship, and as following the Prophet, peace be upon him

2
There are good deeds specific to certain acts of worship, such as

Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet, peace be upon him, said, "Whoever says 'There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. The Kingdom and praise belong to Him and He has power over everything one hundred times a day, it is the same for him as freeing ten slaves. One hundred good actions are written for him and one hundred wrong actions are erased from him, and it is a protection from Shaytan for that day until the night. No-one does anything more excellent than what he does except someone who does more than that. Sahih Al Bukhari.

There are religious benefits that the doer of the Sunnah obtains in this world
Abi Hurairah - may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the prophet said
Allah, the Exalted, has said: 'I will declare war against him who treats with hostility a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (voluntary prayers or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) until I love him, (so much so that) I become his hearing with which he hears, and his sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me something, I will surely give him, and if he seeks My Protection (refuge), I will surely protect him.. And I did not hesitate to do anything, but I would hesitate from the soul of the believer; He hates death, and I hate to offend him
Al Bukhari.

Abi Sa'id Al Khodary narrated that the prophet said:
"Whoever recites Al-Kahf as it was revealed will have a light on the Day of Resurrection from his place to Mecca, and whoever recites ten verses from the end of them, then he will not be abused by the Antichrist, if he emerges. Whoever performs ablution and then says: “Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You, there is no Allah but You. I seek Your forgiveness, I repent to You.” It was written on parchment, then it was sealed with a stamp and it was not broken until the Day of Resurrection. Sahih Al Targheeb.
And in the narration, “Whoever reads Surat Al-Kahf on Friday, light will shine for him between the two Fridays.” Sahih Al Targheeb w Al Tarheeb.
4

There are other benefits that the doer of the Sunnah obtains..
Jabir narrated that the prophet, peace be upon him, said:
“Whoever says: Glory be to Allah the Great, and praise be to Him, a date-palm will be planted for him in Paradise.” Sahih Atermizi.

Abdullah Ibn Amr narrated that the prophet said: Whoever says: Glory be to Allah the Great, and praise be to Him, a date-palm will be planted for him in Paradise. Sahih Al Targheeb w Al Tarheeb.
Shall I tell about one of the treasures of Paradise? I said: Yes, O Messenger of God. He said: There is neither might nor power but with Allah." Sahih Ibn Majah.

Abu Musa reported that the prophet said: “When a man is ill or on a journey, what he was accustomed to do when staying at home and well will be recorded for him Sahih Al Bukhari

A'isha narrated that the prophet said: ‘Whoever persists in performing twelve Rak’ah from the Sunnah, a house will be built for him in Paradise: four before the Zuhr, two Rak’ah after Zuhr, two Rak’ah after Maghrib, two Rak’ah after the ‘Isha’ and two Rak’ah before Fajr. Sahih Ibn Majah.

There are worldly benefits, offset by worldly harms, as a reward for those who do not perform specific Sunnahs.
Reward: reward for something, and it is both a reward and a punishment.
Reward: What is enough, if good, then good, and if bad, then bad.
Allah said:
"As for he who gives and fears Allāh, And believes in the best [reward], We will ease him toward ease. But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need, and denies the best [reward], We will ease him toward difficulty." Surat Al-lail.
So every punishment is a penalty, but not every penalty is a punishment.
Abu Huraira reported that the prophet said: “When one of you goes to sleep the devil ties three knots at the back of his neck, sealing every knot with, ‘You have a long night, so sleep’. So if one awakes and mentions Allah a knot will be loosened, if he performs ablution a knot will be loosened, and if he prays a knot will be loosened, and in the morning he will be active and in good spirits; otherwise he will be in bad spirits and sluggish in the morning". Sahih Al Bukhari.
The night prayer is achieved even if one rak'ah (Al Watr). “He who does not wake up during the night becomes wicked and lazy, as a reward and not as a punishment.”
This is in contrast to that. A person who does not spend the night in prayer becomes evil-minded and lazy as a recompense, not a punishment, because he did not commit a sin for which he is to be punished.
The penalty was of the same type as the action:
1- By being deprived of the good that results from doing this desirable (mustahabb).
2- Exposure to the evils that result from not doing this desirable (mustahabb).

Ali Ibn Abi Talib Narrated That The Prophet Said: "The covering between the eyes of the jinn and the private parts of the children of Adam when one of them enters the privy is provided by his saying, ‘In the name of Allah.’” Sahih Atermizi.

The Prophet said: "If anyone spends the night with grease on his hand which he has not washed away, he can blame only himself if some trouble comes to him".
Paying attention to personal hygiene during the day and before going to sleep is one of the important things that Islamic law insisted on.
In this hadith, the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: “Whoever sleeps with immersion in his hand,” which are: some traces of meat from fat and others; As a result of not washing the hand, “and he did not wash it and something happened to it”; Whoever harms “no one can blame but himself”; Because he missed what he had to do, and he didn't care about the right of himself over him.

Ibn Abbas narrated that the prophet said: "If anyone of you, when intending to have a sexual relation with his wife, says:
"In the name of Allah, may Allah keeps me away from Satan, and keeps away from Satan what we have, Satan would never harm that child, should it be ordained that they will have one. Al Bukhari.
Praying (supplication) wards off calamity and protects from Satan's temptations and afflictions.
This supplication means that if Allah Almighty had decreed and provided a child from this intercourse; That child will be in the protection of Allah, protected from Satan for the duration of his life, so he will not be touched by any harm. What is meant is that Satan does not have complete control over him, and as for waswasah, it happens to everyone.
In the hadith: Explanation of the virtue of the aforementioned supplication in every action, including the intercourse of a man with his wife. And in it: Allah, Glory be to Him, protects His servants with what they pray for themselves or their offspring.

Anas narrated that the prophet said while entering the privy, "In
the Name of Allah". "O Allah, I seek protection in You from evil and the evil ones (or, from the evil male and female Jinn)". Sahih Al Bukhari.
Imam Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, “when I enter without saying these words, I was struck by what I hate.”

The Prophet said: "These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils." Sahih Ibn Majah.

Aban Ibn Othman said that Othman heard the Prophet saying:
"A person will not be harmed by anything if he says every morning and every evening, '"In the Name of Allah by whose Name nothing in the earth or the heaven is harmed. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.'" Sunnan Atermizi.
And Aban had been struck by a hemiplegic, so the man looked at him, Aban told him: What are you looking at? As for the hadith as I told you, but I did not say it on that day, so that Allah would fulfill His decree for me.
Aban forgot to say the above supplication on that day so he was
struck by that illness.
In the hadith: An explanation of what the followers had of faith in predestination.

Jabir reported that the prophet said: "when a man enters his house and mentions Allah's name on entering and at his food, the devil says, “You have no place to spend the night and no evening meal; ” but when he enters without mentioning Allah ’s name on entering the devil says, “You have found a place to spend the night; ” and when he does not mention Allah at his food he says, “You have found a place to spend the night and an evening meal.”
Sahih Moslem.
The prophet, peace be upon him, teaches us a lot of manners.
As in this hadith - the mention of Allah when entering the house and before eating; If a man enters his house, i.e., his dwelling in which he sleeps, he mentions Allah when he enters and when he eats, i.e., before he starts eating it, Satan said to his followers, his brothers, his helpers, and his companions: There is no overnight stay, i.e., you have no home, no residence, and no dinner, i.e., dinner is in this place. But if a man enters and does not mention Allah when he enters and when he eats, Satan says: You have will have the overnight stay and dinner.
In the hadith: The virtue of mentioning Allah, the Mighty and Sublime.
And in it: Satan takes advantage of the negligence of man.
So whoever neglects the Sunnah does not blame anyone but himself.

Persuasion of sitting towards Al Qibla..
Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet said:
"There is a master for everything, and the master of boards is towards the Qibla." Sahih Al Targheeb w Al Tarheeb.

Intimidation from sleeping on stomach..
Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet saw a man laying on his stomach so he said: "Indeed such laying is not loved by Allah." Sahih Atermizi.

The prohibition on leaning on the left hand..
Amr b. al-Sharid quoted his father al-Sharid b. Suwaid as saying:
"The prophet came upon me when I was sitting thus: having my left hand behind my back and leaning on the fleshy part of it, and said: Are you sitting in the manner of those with whom Allah is angry"
This is a questioning of astonishment and denial on the part of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to sit in this form that is characteristic of the indolence of the wrathful.. And what is meant by them: the Jews, or what is meant by them who have been angered from; among the infidels and the arrogant, from whom the effects of their arrogance appear by their sitting and walking. The prophet hated imitating them. The Muslim should avoid imitating the one whom Allah has wrathed.
Using the right hand..

A'isha said that the Prophet liked to begin with the right as much as possible in all his affairs, in his purification, combing his hair, and putting on his sandals. Al Bukhari.
It is Sunnah to start with the right in all things.
The noble Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, were observing the actions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and his Sunnah. To learn from it, act upon it, and pass it on to them after them.
In this hadith, Aisha, the mother of the believers, may Allah be pleased with her, tells that the Prophet used to like the right.
It is a common word for beginning with the right, taking something and giving it with the right, and seeking blessings with it. It pleased him to begin with the right in all honorable deeds.
It was said: Because he liked the good omen. The companions of the right are the people of Paradise.. Al Bukhari added in the narration “what he was able to,” so he cautioned to adhere to that as long as there was no impediment, including that he would start on the right side by putting on his sandals and shoes, then put on his left foot.. He begins with the right side when combing his hair and “purifying” it, so he begins with the right in the purification of the body, whether it is ablution or ghusl.
As for the malignant acts he used the left, and began with the left, such as entering the privy.
One should begin with the right hands and feet then the left hands and feet. One should use his right hand in eating, drinking, giving and taking. If he names Allah when he eats and drinks, and eats his food and drinks with etiquette with the right, and praises Allah when he has finished; he obtains the approval of the Lord of the worlds. When he gives something to someone, or takes it from him; Let it be with the right.
Whoever shakes hands with someone else, he should shake hands with the right, and whoever gives food, drink, perfume or other things to a group of people; he should start with the right, unless someone waived his right.

Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet said:
"When one of you puts on his shoes, he should put on the right one first and when he takes them off, he should take off the left one first, so that the right one should be the first to be put on and the last to be taken off.” Al Bukhari.

"It was said to Salman: Your Prophet teaches you everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes. He has forbidden us to face the Qibla at the time of easing or urinating. He has forbidden us also from cleansing with right hand, and cleansing with less than three stones, or cleansing with dung or bone" Moslem.

In this hadith: the Prophet, peace be upon him, guided and taught his nation everything that would benefit it even in the smallest of matters.
In it: a statement of the etiquette of excrement that every Muslim should be keen on.

Drinking etiquette..
Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet said: "None of you drinks while standing, so whoever forgets let him vomit". Moslem

Anas used to breathe twice or thrice in the vessel (while drinking) and used to say that the Prophet; used to take three breaths while drinking. Al Bukhari.
He breathes into the container: that is, he breathes outside the container.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, was the best of people in education and upbringing, and he taught his nation the etiquette of food and drink, and the companions, may Allah be pleased with them, adhered to his guidance, and they transmitted that to us.
In this hadith, the follower Thumamah bin Abdullah bin Anas bin Malik tells: that his grandfather Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, used to breathe into the vessel two or three times.
Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, was the servant of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and one of the most familiar with the guidance of the Prophet, in food and drink and other things.
Anas used to drink the water he needed two or three times, cutting off his drink each time and breathing in. He sometimes drink two times and sometimes three times. His saying, "He breathes into the vessel", the meaning is that he used to exhale while drinking away from the vessel while holding it in his hand.
Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, told him that this was the guidance of the Prophet in the way of drinking, he would drink his need of water three times, cut off his drink each time and breathe in.

Eating etiquette..
Omar Ibn Abi Salama reported:
"I was a boy under the care of the Prophet, and my hand would wander about in the dish. The prophet said to me "Mention Allah's Name (i.e., say Bismillah before you start eating), eat with your right hand and eat from what is near to you". I always followed this way of eating after this incident. Sahih Al Bukhari.
In this hadith there is a set of etiquettes of food that the Prophet taught to Omar bin Abi Salama, in particular, and to his nation in general. His mother is Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet, and he is the stepson of the Prophet. Omar's hand was wandering in the plate, meaning: he moved it in the sides of the food bowl; So the Prophet commanded him to say Bismillah before he starts eating food, and to eat with his right hand, and to eat from the side of the food near him.

Omar bin Salama says, “This is still my food afterwards,” meaning: I adhered to what the Prophet commanded, for I have been doing that with my food since I heard that from the Prophet.
In the hadith: The Prophet was kind and generous in teaching and disciplining children..

Ibn Abbas reported that the prophet said: "Blessing descends upon food in its middle, so eat from the sides of the vessel and do not eat from its middle Sunnan Atermizi

Abdullah ibn Abbas narrated that the prophet said: " When one of you eats, he must not eat from the top of the dish, but should eat from the bottom; for the blessing descends from the top of it Sahih Sunnan Atermizi

One of the reasons for blessing in food is that a person adheres to the etiquette of food, Among those etiquette is what the Prophet, peace be upon him, urged in this hadith by saying: “If one of you eats food, he should not eat from the top of the plate.”
i.e., he should not take food from the middle or from the top if it is serrated, or if it is one on top of the other. “But let him eat from the bottom of it,” meaning: from the side in front of the eater; “Blessing”, that is: goodness and increase, “descends from its top”, that is: its middle and its middle.

Ibn Abbas narrated that the prophet said
When one of you eats, he must not wipe his hand till he licks it, or gives it to someone else to lick
Sahih Moslem.

Ibn Abbas narrated that the prophet said:
"When a morsel of any of you falls, he should pick it up and remove any of the dirt on it and then eat it, and should not leave it for Satan nor should wipe his hand with towel until he has licked his fingers, for he does not know in what portion of the food the blessing lies." Sahih Moslem.

Jabir reported that the prophet said

The Satan is present with any one of you in everything he does; he is present even when he eats food; so if any one of you drops a mouthful he should remove away anything filthy on it and eat it and not leave for the devil; and when he finishes (food) he should lick his fingers, for he does not know in what portion of his food the blessing lies Sahih Moslem

For he does not know in what portion of his food it is, i.e., it is obtained and there is, “barakah” which is the increase, the affirmation of goodness and benefit from it. What is meant here is: that which results in nourishment and its consequences are spared from harm, and that strengthens obedience to Allah and other things.
In the hadith: Explanation of the guidance of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in eating

And in it: It is part of his

guidance licking fingers after eating

In it also: It is part of his guidance to eat a fallen morsel after wiping out the harm that afflicts it.

In it: the urge to break the arrogance with humility, and to take the fallen morsel, and not to leave it as some affluent people do

In it: a warning against the devil, who sticks with man in all his behaviors.

In it: Evidence of the devil’s eating.

Ka'b bin Malik reported
I saw the prophet eating with three fingers and licking them after having finished the food
Sahih Moslem.

"When any one of you drops a mouthful he should remove anything filthy from it and then eat it, and should not leave it for the Satan. He also commanded us that we should wipe the dish saying: You do not know in what portion of your food the blessing lies." Sahih Moslem.

Ibn Abbas narrated that
The Prophet prohibited us from breathing into the drinking vessel or blowing in it. Sunnan Atermizi.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade to be breathed into the vessel, or to be blown into it, i.e., inside the vessel and not outside it to cool it down or for some reason in the drink; this is so that nothing that touches the water comes out of his mouth, especially if the drink is shared, and the others will slander him. It was said: Because that is not commendable to the people of medicine and may harm the liver. Otherwise was said.

Abi Hurairah narrated that the prophet said:
said, "Five practices are characteristics of the Fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic region, depilating the hair of the armpits, clipping the nails and cutting the moustaches short

What is meant by Fitra (instinct) here: the sunna of the prophets, or religion.
Abi Hurairah narrated: "The acts of fitra are five: Circumcision, , shaving the pubic region, plucking the armpits, clipping the nails and cutting the moustaches short.

Let us stick to the Sunnah, as Al Salaf Al Saleh did, with the belief that the best of the guidance is that of the prophet Mohammad peace be upon him. Every guidance is the best for this World and the Hereafter.
Al Salaf Al Saleh made the good example for preparing for the Hereafter with all kinds of good deeds, using their times and ages, whether these deeds are deeds of hearts, tongues or limbs. Whether they are obligatory or supererogatory. They raced to every door of good deeds and warned from every door of evil, and they didn't enter it. So as to comply with the words of Allah:

"And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden [i.e., Paradise] as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous"

And their willingness to meet Allah does not stop at some words that come out of the mouths but all their senses were submitted to Allah, and the case of each one of them is "and I hastened to You, my Lord that You be pleased "
They always preferred the works of the Hereafter over all their worldly interests, because their hearts believed and submitted.

"Whoever desires the quick-passing, We readily grant him what We will for whom We like. Then, afterwards, We have appointed for him Hell; he will burn therein disgraced and rejected , Whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it, with the necessary effort due for it while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) - then such are the ones whose striving shall be appreciated."

And despite all this, they felt that their deeds were insignificant because they knew that the Prophet said: If a man were to be dragged on his face from the day he was born until the day he dies old, pleasing Allah Almighty, he would humiliate him on the Day of Resurrection.”

So let us hasten to the good things that are imposed and recommended, and let us avoid sins, small and great, in order to take advantage of our times that are our lives, and to request Allah's mercy.

Ibn Abbas narrated that the prophet said: ‘Two blessings which many people squander: Good health and free time.’ Sahih Al Bukhari.
Two great blessings many people squander; Their value is not known by many people and many people do not benefit from them in their worldly and hereafter lives, they are: the health; That is: "the health" and strength of the body and soul and "the free time";
the freedom of the human being from the preoccupations of living and the worries of life, and the availability of security and psychological reassurance, these are two great blessings but they are not well estimated by people.
In the hadith: The encouragement to take advantage of these blessings of health and emptiness and others, and make use of them in what pleases Allah Almighty.
In it: a person does not devote himself to obedience unless he is sufficient and healthy in body.
He could have free time, but has no health, and could have health but has no free time, he could be busy in learning and in earning money.. So the one who has health, free time, but he is lazy in doing obediences, then he is a loser.

Ibn Mas'ud reported that the prophet said "Paradise is nearer to each of you than the thong of his sandal, and the same applies to hell Sahih Al Bukhari
Paradise will be near if one obeys Allah, and Hell will be near if he disobeys.
Do not be ascetic in little good; may it be a reason for Allah's mercy, nor in a little evil that should be avoided, perhaps it is the reason of the wrath of Allah Almighty.
In the hadith: there is clear evidence that obedience leads to Paradise, and disobedience leads to Hell.
In it also : The believer does not renounce a little good. And he also shouldn't think that a little evil is easy, while, to Allah, it is great. The believer does not know which good Allah will be merciful to him for it, and which bad Allah will be angry with him for it.
In it also The attainment of Paradise is easy by correcting the intention and the act of obedience, and Hellfire is also with the agreement of desire and the act of disobedience.

Rabi'a Ibn Ka‘b said
I was with the prophet at night, and when I brought him his water for ablution and what he required, he told me to make a request. I said, “I ask to accompany you in paradise.” He asked if I had any other request to make, and when I replied that that was all, he said, “Then help me to accomplish this for you by devoting yourself often to prostration Sahih Moslem
So help me with a lot of prostration.” i.e., help me in this matter until Allah fulfills it for you, so stick to a lot of prostration to Allah in prayer, in obligatory and supererogatory prayers, and this prostration is a reason to enter Heaven and accompany me with it.
In the hadith: The urge to prostrate a lot, and the encouragement for it, by prolonging prostration and praying a lot.
In it also: An explanation of the companions’ keenness to ask about sublime matters and what enters Paradise.

The path to heaven, the abode of residence and dignity, is between four words: two are negative, and two are positive.
The two negatives: polytheism and sin. May Allah protect us from them.
The two positives: faith and righteous deeds - its obligatory and supererogatory (Nafl).
Now, you walkers to Allah, let us take the path guided by: There is no god but Allah, and Mohammad is the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.
